Space Junk - Lawn Bowls x Outer Space present Softie Sports
Softie Sports is a new rendition of Space Junk, born from a shared commitment to play, material curiosity and reuse. Created in collaboration with Lawn Bowls, the glassware practice of Brisbane-based artist Finn O’Sullivan, this edition reimagines misprints salvaged from the Print Bar, giving new life to materials once considered spent.
Known for her delightfully playful approach to glass, Finn O’Sullivan works through an exploratory, hands-on process from her Meanjin (Brisbane) studio. Her practice centres on observing how decorative objects enrich our everyday domestic spaces, using bright imagery, colour and pattern to spark joy and quiet moments of wonder. That same sensibility carries through Softie Sports, where bold graphic fragments and soft imperfections come together in unexpected ways.
Each piece is individually made and entirely unique. By reusing Print Bar misprints, Softie Sports also extends the ethos of Space Junk: honouring experimentation, sustainability and the beauty found in the imperfect.
Handmade in Meanjin, Australia, no two pieces are alike. This is functional art that invites play, curiosity and a second look, proof that misprints, much like magic materials, still have stories left to tell.
